Moving Images is Born!
MI was launched in the year 2004, 28th August with lighting of the lamp by Gulzar at Kalakriti Art Gallery. There was a photo exhibition of Bimal Roy art and Gulzar recited a poetry to mark the event. We also had Sunil Dutt’s costume from Sujatha displayed and Bimal Roy’s unfinished movie ‘Kumbh Mela ‘ was screened.
John Abraham Award
Federation of Film Societies of India, Southern Region has initiated an award in the name of Malayali filmmaker JOHN ABRAHAM and giving this award every year to the active film society in the Region based on their performance.
We are happy to inform, it was decided to present this Award (Rs.1,500 + Memento & Shawl) for the year 2010-11 to MOVING IMAGES, HYDERABAD at the Annual Regional General Body Meeting to be held on 10th July, 2011 at Tenali, Andhra Pradesh. (Tenali Cultural Film Society, Tenali hosting the General Body Meeting).
100 Years of Indian CinemaFrom Feb 22nd till 25th 2014, five iconic films of the 50s and 60s – ” the golden age of Indian films” – were screened in association with Hyderabad Travel Mart at Paryatak Bhavan where film lovers and foreign delegates to the conference got a glimpse of the heritage, and culture of our people as seen through the eyes of masters like Satyajit Ray, Bimal Roy and Guru Dutt. Also on view were 30 rare film posters from the silent era and the golden age, lent by National Film Archive of India.On Friday 21st there was a special screening of the national award winning Celluloid Man at Prasads preview. Director Shivendra Dungarpur talked about the importance of restoring preserving our film history. Our partners were Centre for Development of Excellence, AP Tourism and National Film of Archive of India.
